Alberto Entrerríos says goodbye in the best way
Alberto Entrerríos Rodríguez says goodbye to international handball with 36 years. After 336 matches and 719 goals scored with the Spanish national team, the Asturian player says goodbye in the best way: winning his second World Championship.
The Captain of the Hispanos
After his absence in the London 2012 Olympic Games, it seems like if the elder Entrerrios' brother had said goodbye as an international player. However, after London, Valero Rivera called him again. "Sometimes in the Olympic Games' matches I missed what he can do and I think that he must return to the national team", assured the Spanish head coach. At his return, the Nantes' left back became one of the leaders of the Hispanos, and with the injury of Jose Javier Hombrados, he had to change his role in the group to be the new captain of the team.
All Star team
Entrerríos has performed a great World Championship, playing 8 games, scoring 26 goals from 50 shots (52%), giving 27 assists, stealing 6 balls and blocking 3 shots. In the quarter-finals versus Germany, the left back was one of the most outstanding Spaniards, being awarded with the MVP of the game. Moreover, Alberto Entrerrios has been elected as the best left back of the tournament, being a part of the All Star team of the World Championship.
